Navajo Yei Rug with Humpback Yei, Corn and Rainbow Guardian

This is a very unusual Yeibichai weaving with some of the most unusual colors I've seen from a Navajo artist. These figures represent yei divinities of the Navajo Indian tribe and are principle figures in the initiation ceremony, Night Way. This is a well woven Yei rug with a Yei figure surrounded on either side by corn and within the protection of the Rainbow Guardian figure on three sides. The rug is woven from handspun wool yarn This piece in quite nice condition considering the age and the colors are extremely vibrant. There is a stain in the corner on one side and might come out if professionally cleaned by a rug company. Dimensions Length: 24.25" Width: 19.25"
