Vintage Otey Crisman III 320 HB Hickory Shaft Mallet Putter Leather Grip
The business began in 1946 when Otey Crisman, an Alabama touring professional, struggling with his putting, came up with the idea of a mallet putter which he whittled by hand. A local foundry cast a head in aluminum, he added a hickory shaft and qualified fourth for the US Open. He soon realised there was more money to be made selling the putters than playing with them and the Otey Crisman Golf Putter Company began. Five Masters have been won by players using Crisman putters and the putters were used by Arnold Palmer, Miller Barber, Jack Burke, Tony Lema, Babe Didrikson Zaharias, Nancy Lopez and others. .
The business is now run by his son, Otey Crisman III, and is still turning out hickory shafted putters which, according to a 1993 Golf Digest article, 'have entered the realm of legend over the years'.
This club is as pictures. Scuffs and wear on the head. Slight bend in the wood shaft but I cant tell if that is purposeful.
