Archimede Seguso for CHANEL Cobalt and Emerald Tubular Glass Art Necklace

Preowned. This item is in very good condition. This terrifically elegant necklace results from a collaboration between storied Italian glass makers Seguso and Chanel. The Seguso family has produced glass at Murano in Venice since the 14th Century. In the Seventies, Archimede Seguso was invited by Chanel to produce a collection of glass jewelry to complement the brand's fashion collection. A highly collectible range of pieces resulted from this collaboration in alluring colorways and with fascinating gold and rhinestone details. Necklaces made of these tubular glass elements came in many colors with and without diamante accent details, and earrings were produced in various colors, sizes, and styles. This necklace has a highly decorative gilt metal clasp and measures a tad over 20" long. The necklace consists of 3 strands of these macaroni-like tubular elements, each almost 2" long, undulating back and forth like a meandering river. Goldtone beadwork spacers add flexibility to this piece of jewelry, which is also a piece of the art of the glassblower.
