Base does NOT charge-when plugged into the wall the base does NOT light up and is not charging the portable hand vacuum so the vacuum is not tested and not charged. The hand vacuum may work but the base can't charge it so it is untested and would be able to used for SALVAGE and parts at the least. The vacuum measures 11"L x 6" wide, and 7" wall when folded compact with a spout release button that extends 7" with a 3" small pull out partition. The vacuum has a side release catch reservoir for easy access disposal of vacuumed items. The base has a 5ft long plug but does NOT carry a charge. Model #1800 Type 1 18V DC
