Here's a little history about Hickory Hill Pottery...Hickory Hill Pottery was established in 1985 by potter Daniel Marley. Being a first generation potter, Marley became interested in the production of pottery while visiting nearby Westmoore Pottery after school. One thing led to another and before long Marley was serving a one year apprenticeship with Westmoore Pottery. While working there, Marley received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to study the rich tradition and techniques of the Seagrove area potteries. It was here that he found his life's calling. In 1989, Daniel married Leanna Davis. Together they are committed to keeping the pottery tradition alive. Many of the shapes they produce today reflect traditional shapes of the area. The Marleys specialize in utilitarian wares. They produce a vast array of baking dishes, serving pieces, and dinnerware. All of their glazes are lead-free and developed by them for their specific use.
