Song bird by Steuben circa 1960s, Hand Cooler paperweight Art Glass Figural Hand coolers can be traced back to the Victorian era. These small egg shaped items usually made of porcelain, marble, or crystal would be nestled in the palms of Victorian ladies to ward off the possibility of the social humiliation of a wet, warm handshake. An American classic since 1903, Steuben glass is flawless by design and the epitome of the expression "crystal clear". These fine examples of the highest quality prismatic glass sculptures captures, reflects and refracts light like no other crystal. Exquisitely sculpted, delicately balanced. All imperfect pieces are destroyed in house never to make circulation. *This particular piece is in excellent vintage condition with no fleabites chips or cracks, signed Steuben on base/bottom. *PLEASE NOTE; the vintage items in my shop are not new and can show signs of usage from a well loved history/past.
