greenirishmoon What skate size do you think the plates would work for? I wear a size 6 in Moxi. Looking to mount a pair of Van’s.

tbirdie024 @greenirishmoon hi 👋🏽 I almost didn’t see your message, that sounds awesome! These were on a size mens 5 Riedell boot. The wheelbase is 146mm and the plate length is 232mm, so it won’t be too long for the Vans size 6 (is it a mens 6?). I’d also say measure the wheel base (length of one axle to the next) of plates that you like to get an idea for the shortest you’d like the wheelbase to be. That’s absolutely a preference thing, but “mechanically” they should fit perfectly on a Vans mens 6.

tbirdie024 @greenirishmoon I also have cushions for these plates in an 85A (purple) if you need something harder than 79A (yellow) and I’m happy to switch those out for you!

greenirishmoon Perfect. Let me measure some of my other skates for reference when I get home today. The Van's are a men's 5.5.

tbirdie024 @greenirishmoon sweet! I measured my mens 5 Vans and they aren’t too long for those 💗 I’ll check in again in your wheelbase later.

tbirdie024 @greenirishmoon hi Trish! I hope your had a nice weekend! Popping in to check on your wheel base, NO RUSH to reply 😉 One thing I love about these plates is that they have a reverse kingpin, so it screws up into the plate and the finish is smooth versus the rough end of the kingpin hanging towards the floor. That can be desirable for the skate park and grinding. And I think it just looks good/different 😂 Where were you thinking of using your new setup?

greenirishmoon @tbirdie024 Haha funny question. I’m about weeks in on a back injury. I haven’t been able to skate at all. The van’s set up was going to be a park set, but at my age, after this recent fall I may have to admit, to myself, that CIB may be not be in the cards. I hate saying that 😡

tbirdie024 @greenirishmoon omggg, that sucks! I just had my first skate concussion dropping in from coping for the first time on Sunday before last… was so focused on foot placement I didn’t lean in enough, just went for it before I chickened out. Also the transition was way too quick/short 🤦🏻‍♀️ helmet saved me but I’m still trying to rest and stay off screens. I hear you 💯 ❤️‍🩹

greenirishmoon @tbirdie024 That’s terrible. I’m glad you had a helmet on. I’m seeing a lot of too cool for school skaters out there without one 😱 I say no now, but knowing me, I’ll be itching to drop soon after I get back on skates 🤫 😆 Here’s to patience, grace and healing. 🙌 Take care of yourself, I’m sure we’ll chat again soon. 💚💚💚

tbirdie024 @greenirishmoon ahaha I AM itching to try again at a different transition! Now I know what to do, albeit had to learn the hard way 😂 Ty so much for the well wishes 😘 sure we’ll talk soon too! You feel better as well ❤️‍🩹 p.s yeah no helmet 🪖 I’m not too cool, I’ll keep my brain thanks

dennisbeson Hey tbirdie! I have Sure Grip Rock GT50 Men's size 10 boot, 10 deg Kingpins, wheelbase 172mm, Plate Length is 265mm, 8mm axles. What strong plates might you have with 30-45 deg Kingpins to fit my boots? I'm looking at the Sure Grip Rebel Avenger skate, but they're pricey. Thanks! Dennis the Menace

tbirdie024 @dennisbeson hi Dennis! Thanks for reaching out. I don’t have any other plates for sale that’d be long enough for your boot. They’re all 140-146mm or so, for my itty bitty feet!

tbirdie024 @dennisbeson I don’t have any plates with the higher degree action, most of my plates range from 10° to 16°. I’m favoring the 16° on my roll lines inside for dance (7mm axle). I’d love to know what you think of those really angled ones though! I’ve heard folks talking about the Powerdyne Arius with the butterfly shaped bushings. Would be fun to try the squirrelier feel.

tbirdie024 @dennisbeson I know you probably figured this out, but 140-146mm was referring to wheelbase.

tbirdie024 @dennisbeson I don’t have these, but there’s a Sure-Grip LoRide plate that looks like it may be good for derby, never seen anything quite like it, super low and angled, has 3 different risers to go with your wheel size, 8mm axle. But pricey of course… good luck!
