Vintage Hinged Kimono Bag with Accordion Pleated Sides. Made by luxury brand Kinwashi. Striking color palette of Brick Red with a subtle sparkle of Gold Metallic. Some areas are made to look like gold foil. The pattern differs slightly on each side. This is a structured handbag with a gold tone metal frame. Not fabric, but some type of faux leather for the handles and base and sides are a shiny (plastic compound?) material. Gold snap clasp works great. Two interior pockets. Geisha often carried these when wearing their most formal kimono. The silk interior is impeccable, but there are a few minor signs of age here and there on the exterior; please look at all photos. The last three show a split where the handles attach to the metal rings on the sides (underside of material so not really noticeable; please look at the area from the side when standing) and there is also a tiny piece of coating missing from the side of one of the handles. It’s barely noticeable and certainly doesn’t detract from the integrity of the purse, nor its beauty. Gold snap clasp works great. Two interior pockets. No odor or stains. Price is firm as it reflects the (minimal) vintage wear. There aren’t many of these around and they sell for around $70 on et-sy, when you can find them. Circa 50’s/60’s.
