RARE circa 1920's Art Pottery Pitcher in the Zono line featuring the Kingfisher Bird pattern manufactured by the Weller Pottery Company and designed by Rudolph Lorber (a Australian artist who worked from 1905 to the 1930's). Made in the United States. It is marked Weller on the bottom.
It’s colors include blues, beiges, greens and browns in the high gloss zona line featuring four panels of cattails with two larger panes opposite one another. There is a Kingfisher Bird on a branch - and the opposite side has a tree in a meadow. The handle represents a tree branch. The top band has a row of flowers. The pitcher is quite substantial.
Light signs of previous use. There is typical browning and crazing on the interior and some crazing on the bottom. The glaze however looks amazing. There is a small chip on the lip as shown in the last 3 photos. This does not distract from it’s beauty.
Note: there is a newspaper article from 1971 included that speaks to the history of this amazing piece.
