GIANFRANCO FERRE Vintage Silk Floral 2-Pc Blouson Top & Pleated Skirt IT42 US6

Vintage 1980s two-piece dress from Gianfranco Ferre features a lively fruit and floral fabric in colors from pink to burgundy and yellow to green. The designs of both the top and the skirt are quite distinctive: The top is densely gathered all around the yoke and is then attached to a close-fitting, wide knitted wool waist/hip band, allowing the fabric to billow over the top of the band; the sleeves have this same billowy treatment with wide knit cuffs. (The tightly knit hip and sleeve bands are two-faced with black on one side and white on the other.) The top is a button down, pullover style with a black knit shirt collar and four buttons. The long skirt is flat and fitted around the hips where it's covered by the knitted band, below which wide pleats are attached all the way around. The skirt has a black knit waistband and also closes with a side zipper. The top's wide hip band is not bulky, so the skirt could be worn over it, as thought the top were tucked in. Both pieces are labeled Italian size 42, which is considered equivalent to a US size 6.
