Hi! It's a beautiful dress. Very elegant. What is this comparable to in American sizes? Thanks.
vbowles1
8 or 10 size
vbowles1
@shelbyds 8 or 10 size

Thank you. I'm losing weight but I'm still a 10-12. I was a 12 bordering on 14. If I lose another 15 and it hasn't sold yet (which for your sake I hope it has), I'll definitely treat myself to it. Thanks for getting back to me.
vbowles1
@shelbyds I am a 14, and it's just now too tight around the middle. Good luck with your weight loss. Sounds like you're doing great!

@vbowles1 could I get measurements including length, please? Are there darts in the bust?
vbowles1
@grinski Yes, it has darts. The bust is around 38". The undergarment has some stretch. The length is 42" from top of shoulder to longest part of hem. The center (where it's shorter) is probably about 38" long.
theexaminedlife
@vbowles1 thanks much! If I could ask, what bra size were you when you wore this?
vbowles1
@grinski When I wore this, I was about a 36-38 bra size. I'm a 42 now, so it's tight across the front. I'd say this is a true 10 in size. Obviously, it's a loose dress, so someone smaller could get away with wearing it, just not bigger.
vbowles1
@grinski The first layer is a stretchy knit, like a nylon/polyester tank top material. The sheer overlay is a silk organza and stiffer. I bought this dress in Munich, and it's very timeless. It doesn't seem to go out of style. :)
vbowles1
@grinski Also, it has been dry cleaned and still has its tag.
theexaminedlife
@vbowles1 I'm getting more hopeful! I'm a 36C-D, so it seems like it should have enough room...would you agree?
theexaminedlife
@vbowles1 I generally wear a 12, but have many 10s in my closet that have stretch and/or shaping darts. Hmmmmm.
vbowles1
@grinski Yes, I didn't grow out of this until I was a size 14, but it was more my belly, not the bust. I think you'll have room. The darts are quite generous.
theexaminedlife
@vbowles1 yes, my belly is uncooperative these days, too. Does this fall straight, or go in somewhat at the waist?
vbowles1
@grinski It falls straight.
theexaminedlife
@vbowles1 OK. One last question, I promise: Back or side zipper? And could I see a back view and a close-up of the fabric? Thanks again, for all your assistance.
vbowles1
@grinski It is two separate pieces. There is no zipper. They are both pullover. I have added two pics so you can see the dart at the bust, as well as the sheerness of the overlay. The bottom layer is stretchy and not as sheer, as you can see at the bottom.
theexaminedlife
@vbowles1 wow--pullover! That's surprising! OK I've got everything I need. Now to decide how badly to misbehave. ;)
vbowles1
@grinski I am so sorry. The organza overlay does have a back zipper. I just looked at it again. I am also adding a photo of the back of the dress.
theexaminedlife
@vbowles1 thanks!
vbowles1
@shelbyds checking in. I still have the dress if you’re interested.
