PIERRE BALMAIN Rare Vintage Pink Flamenco Style Strapless Hi Lo Party Dress XS 2

I'm a little puzzled by this wonderful hot pink Balmain dress and am still researching its history and vintage, but at this point, am leaning to its being from the early 1980s. It is truly extraordinary - from it's heavily ruched bodice and torso to the three wide tiers of the skirt that are considerably shorter in front - mimicking a flamenco style dancing dress. There is light boning and removable foam breast pads inside the bodice; the ribbon trim is black; and closure is with a back zipper. There are no fabric or size labels present, which would indicate a date earlier than the mid-1980s. The other possibility is that this is a sample dress. The fabric looks and feels like silk, but could be a blend. Sizing is based on measurements and our sizing charts, indicating that the dress is closest to a modern US size 2. Please refer to the measurements for the best guidance regarding actual size and compare with a similar garment that fits you. MEASUREMENTS - Chest is 32" - Waist is 26" - Hips are 35" where the skirt begins. - Length is 31" down center front. - Length is 45.5" down center back. CONDITION Excellent condition with a few very light spots that are all but impossible to see. I am almost convinced that this is a sample dress, making it all the more rare. Other than the faint spots, which could result from handling, there are no telltale signs that the dress has ever been worn.
