There is a on/off switch on the bottom. The sensor still picks up some motion and makes some sound but does not work keenly. I put a black glove on the remaining hand and it looks pretty good:). If you are good with electronics, you might be able to get the motion sensor and sound to work better; otherwise, it can be used for parts.
