Description
The Emerald City is having a ball and this 1950's dress is just the thing to wear! The structure of this dress is to die for, from the sweetheart neckline to the nipped waist down to the layers upon layers of skirt enhancements! A look under the skirt reveals a matching green petticoat and a black chiffon lining the front but most interesting is a canvas/ thick paper type of material that is used to really amp up the volume of the skirt.
The back of the skirt has layers of the satin that are reminiscent of the petals of a flower.
Metal zipper up the back.
Measurements taken flat and doubled where appropriate:
Bust: 40"
Shoulder to Waist: 15.5"
Waist: 29"
Hips: 46"
Overall Length: 46.5"
“Herbert Sondheim started his clothing business, Sondheim-Levy, in 1923. By 1930 he had bought his partner out and the Herbert Sondheim label was born. During this time, Sondheim’s wife, Janet “Foxy” Sondheim was the designer. They divorced in 1940. Sondheim was a great believer in Parisian fashion, and always attended the Paris shows. The label lasted through the 1950s. Sondheim died in 1966.”
