A Silly Vintage Bear

Estate Sale Find. No tags or markings of any kind, but this bear is as cute as it could be. It has been hiding in a box in closet for years. Very clean. Arms and legs are jointed. I do not know how old this teddy is. However, the firmness of the stuffing makes me wonder if it's not stuffed with kapok a silky fibre from the seed pod of a tropical tree)? Teddies stuffed with kapok feel firmer and heavier (both apply here), and resist insect attacks. That type of stuffing was used in bears after WWI, but during WW2, kapok was no longer available for toy use, as it was used to line life jackets for soldiers. I don't know what "fabric" the bear's fur is. It is very short and not very soft. Pads are maybe a brushed cotton (??) with hand sewing to indicate claws. Nose is hand sewn. The eyes appear to be glass. Bear is about 17" tall. This bear is anxiously awaiting a new forever home.
