SOLD Alexander McQueen silk mini dress from SS16. 100% silk - very good condition. Size 42IT, US 6-8. Sarah Burton’s coming-of-age moment as the Creative Director (and successor) of Alexander McQueen arrived at the esteemed fashion house’s SS16 show. This sublime collection felt like her most personal. Ethereal ruffles cascaded down the models’ shoulders, abstract floral prints enveloped demure high necks, all spun together by the tale of 17th century silk weavers escaping religious persecution in France. While it may sound off-brand, the ruffles were shredded, the neckline distinctively Victorian-inspired and the theme of displaced outcast - all inherently McQueen. All of which came together in a crescendo as she sent this dress down the runway. Burton was successful in revealing who she was simply by whispering, rather shouting. There’s something poetic about that. Own a piece of that poetry, as I let go of this dress at an astonishing price to make room in my archives.
