shereeellen WOW...was I wrong. I thought this ring was sterling because it was white metal, and I only have ever purchased sterling silver, or white gold. My BIG mistake!!! I thought the mark was a plating mark...I had health challenges, and was obviously not thinking clearly. This ring is Platinum bonded. Platinum is more expensive than gold...very lustrous, and stronger than gold. I just hadn't investigated the mark, says nothing about silver! Never worn...my birthstone is not Topaz. however...if

shereeellen I just researched the makings...PtB stands for Platinum bonded. I couldn't read it myself....anyhow...since there is no stamp concerning the 'base' metal...I'm not sure...except that it is Platinum plated at the very least , which, is the strongest metal, most lustrous and will stay lustrous...Platinum was used in place of Gold for wedding rings in my mothers day!~ It was slightly less expensive than Gold back then, but skyrocketed in price surpassing gold since....I think it has gone a bit
