This unique Echo piece was picked up at a sample sale in the UK. I've never seen another one. Cropped on one side, long on the other, with a string of gorgeous silvery buttons galloping up the front, this is a great piece. I've purposefully over exposed the photos to let you see detail. This is a true, washed black. Gorgeous, and I believe it's one of a kind. At any rate, I don't think it hit the US stores, so no fear you'll have a twin at the party! Only worn for this photo shoot.

onceuponathyme @alexislovebee The skirt is the FP crochet skirt I have up in my closet. The see through part of the top is lace. Are you familiar with the Echo tops/dresses/tailcoat? This is the same line . . . but . . . different construction. I have a few of those in my closet, as well - and more in my REAL closet that I am keeping. LOVE them. And yes, SO many styling ideas come to mind! Do you own black leather pants? Ouch. :-)

alexislovebee Yep, and so funny but I immediately thought of white leather.. Yes I'm familiar with Echo. I want to thank you for introducing me to that site VOX. You had mentioned and I went on and was on there for hours. I really appreciate your love for design, and knowledge of designers.. It definitely shines through with your closet, absolutely one of my favs..

onceuponathyme Ah, thanks, Alexis... too sweet. I love the square cut on the shoulder line on this. none of the others have it quite so severely... it's too cool. I'm also digging on Bolangaro Trevor . . . but so expensive to ship, and impossible to send back . . . :-( Happy poshing! I added quite a lot of new things today - and more over the next week. Are we having fun yet? tee hee @alexislovebee

onceuponathyme I think it would be fine. It's a very interesting piece. I got it at a sample sale at AS before they came to the US. I don't think this was ever mass-produced - I've never seen another one like it, at any rate. The "sample sales" I went to were not the kind we think of. The prices were no lower than usual, but the items were pieces they were trying out that did not go into full production. I have a limited number of these "one offs." This piece has such an interesting shape . . . It's like the tailcoat, but the cropped part is not in the front (as in the tail coat), but on the side. It's fitted (as in "shaped", but doesn't need to be tight to work.

onceuponathyme @lululady Tayler, if she meant the Katerina, yes.... I have a few of them, as they came in different fabrics and styles (with and without sleeves... the sleeveless ones are the gilletts, rather than the blouse). I'll be posting them at some point . . . I'm not sure what colors I have, but I think black, cream and black/gray stripes, and perhaps either white or cream.

onceuponathyme I think all mine are cotton . . . it did come in Silk in the UK, but I don't think any of mine are silk . . . They're the blouse with the amazing detail at the collar/front, and then a bustle back/sides.... the long sleeved one has full sleeves, the vest is sleeveless. @lululady

onceuponathyme @lululady With white, you can always decide to dye it at some point, as well . . . (I'm a big fan of dying!) I've thought about dying a white one ombre for myself, but never could pick a color! I most likely have 10's, although it's very possible I have 8's and 12's as well . . . I generally buy 10's, but often buy a size up or down, too. When costuming a movie you often need 2 or even 3 items that are the same... I always intend to send back the ones not used, but all too often that simply didn't happen. argh! :-)

onceuponathyme @lululady Yep, I have that jacket. But I'm not selling it! :-) I used it in my last film, and I'm totally keeping it for myself. I'll let you know if I have any 8's in the shirt when I get around to checking my inventory. I think I do. Did you try your friend's on for size? I see these coats sometimes when I'm in the UK, in upscale 2nd hand shops, but they are always very expensive - even more than they were originally. If you are dying to have one, (which believe me, I get! I'm a dragon with my hoard... grin), let me know what you're willing to spend, and what color your willing to have (it came in bitter, black, and cream) and I'll look for it next time I'm over the pond. The bitter is a kind of brownish black, black is ... well, black (hahah), and cream is a kind of dirty cream color. They were all a bit "worn" when they first came out - the grunge thing - so buying them used isn't an issue - they virtually look the same as they did new. They also came in a short, NON tail coat version, which is much easier to find (and a bit less expensive).

onceuponathyme :-) The actor who wore it in the film tried really hard to get me to give it to him. And he was adorable, so his efforts were trying. hahahahaa. Are you talking about the coat in a 10 or the top?

onceuponathyme
onceuponathyme @lululady Sorry, Taylor, forgot to tag you on the above. Also, when I was looking, I thought about buying the short jacket and adding tails. That might be a possibility for you, as well. I have the bitter color, and it's my favorite. the cream seemed ... dirty? Maybe just a bit to grunge for my taste. And the black is more shiny than the bitter color. They actually did a few styles of these over about 4 years.

onceuponathyme Unfortunately, that's about what they go for. You might get super lucky if you're willing to wait, and find someone who doens't know what they have . . . There's a UK company that puts them on eBay occasionally, but they are always priced high. I think they buy them all up when they are available, and mark them up (that's my theory, as they are a reseller who have a lot of AS at pretty high prices - always used, but using the same photos of a gorgeous girl face closeup and smaller photos of the item). In my experience, Cost, Condition, and Time. Pick any two. :=) @lululady

onceuponathyme @lululady Did you get a chance to try on her shirt? Sizing on that was tricky, if I remember correctly.

onceuponathyme @lululady hahahaha I figured. My opinion is they price their things at the high end of the register . . . and SOMETIMES in the stratosphere (I've seen them offer this coat for around $800 usd) but when they come up on eBay they generally go for between 350 and 700, depending on the whims of eBay. You might find one if you keep looking and are patient for less. They nearly always have a few of them for sale - I think they bid on anything that comes up on eBay to keep the prices up... as used AS seems to be a big part of their business. I haven't bought anything from them, as I'm patient. hahahaha So no, not wildly overpriced, but not cheap for a used coat, either. Of course, I'm unwilling to sell mine at any price, so there is that to consider! :-) Have you looked at the new Bolongaro Trevor riding coats?
Apr 12Reply
onceuponathyme
onceuponathyme @lululady Yep - that's where I got hooked! I still have friends over and try to get across the water as often as possible. If you didn't snap that coat up, I may have a lead for you . . .

onceuponathyme I have a friend - an actress - who took my smaller one (she and the guy had matching coats). She "borrowed" it after the movie ended, but never brought it back. I emailed her and asked if she'd return and she said she would . . . I THINK she will, but can't promise until I have it in my hot little hands. ;-)

onceuponathyme @lululady The one I kept is a UK 10 . . . US 6. She and it was smaller - I'm pretty sure it was a UK 8 (US 4).

onceuponathyme
onceuponathyme @lululady I'm guessing I'll want between $400-$450 for it... but need to see it and access its condition and make sure it's looking as good now as it was when she borrowed it. That was last November when we wrapped. They were 350 GBP when I bought them . . . which was nearly 600 USD at the time.
