tinkerrn @jrhode05 I gotcha. I was a direct hit for hurricane Ian and we were in 18 ft of surge water on our second level so I lost almost everything. I even had to buy underwear and bras and socks. It was survivor island the first 2 weeks the bridges were closed to the island. But I had a few things at my sons. But not much. But the aqua vest is something I was looking for before. Insurance isn’t paying for contents. 9/28 it hit.

tinkerrn @jrhode05 Cars were flooded out as well. We just got the check for those 2 weeks ago. Internet 12/14. Staying in a trailer in front yard until we can rebuild. But all insurance is pointing fingers to the other - and if u have insulated all. Fema won’t help. It’s crazy.

tinkerrn @jrhode05 just lucky we survived so shouldn’t complain. Except for the insurance part and the inept aftermath actions taken by local town officials thinking they could handle a mass destruction natural disaster of this magnitude- EGO was their problem. We are a very tiny barrier island. 2 very close ones to use at least had local officials accept state and federal help immediately. But ours had to be taken over.

tinkerrn @jrhode05 was truly like a cross between survivor island and the walking dead the first couple weeks. They wouldn’t residents back in for almost 2 weeks. I at least had a spell tank on for my survivor outfit 😜

tinkerrn @jrhode05 my hubby and I were there the whole time. But we family and good friends and the neighbors have all become family. But we were up all night moving stuff higher up. But thought it was going to be only 6 ft at sea level. And we sit at 4 ft. Not 22 ft at landfall. Never has the surge been like this in us history. But on our road. We overslept and only ones left that rode it out. We overslept from a “quick nap”. Too late to go inland by then

tinkerrn @jrhode05 I know. We are trying to get everything together and we have secured general contractor ( a big deal to get one approved with a good reputation so rebuild can start sooner rather than later. ) meet engineer architect for blueprints and plans Wednesday.
