rosevioletjulie @heidisue608 there is give, but not in the sense that they are baggy. The waist is a little under 14 laying flat. A size 27 is usually equivalent to size 4.

rosevioletjulie @heidisue608 thank you for your patience! My preferred jean size is 28. I fit into these & was able to zip the side zipper & button the button. The fabric feels like the type that loosens up after wearing a few hours. I am 5' 4" and the length reaches over my ankles. However, they fit similar to a skinny jean. I never wear overalls, but I feel they are a comfortable fit for a 27/size 4 as long as the wearer isn't looking for a baggy or bootcut look.
