-Freshwater Pearl Necklace, rare tricolor!

just got back from a very informative visit to the jewelers. this is a collar-length necklace of authentic Asian (Chinese or Japanese origin) cultured freshwater pearls. the jeweler was very impressed by the pearls and craftsmanship of this necklace. he explained the method of acid tinting of pearls that are of good quality in size and shape but have organic color defects that prevent them from being deemed as "perfect" in color. by tinting these pearls, they are transformed into once again usable gems to create beautiful jewelry. this particular set features the colors light gray, red and dark gray. each pearl is hand knotted and there is workmanship near the clasp that fortifies the Strand against breakage. truly unique!
