My 1st Manolos, from his flagship shop, in London's Chelsea, mid 80s. I read about this fab designer & went there his 1st month of business. He'd just arrived from Italy & hated the displays so was tossing all the shoes on the floor in a hissy fit when I walked in! He apologized for the mess & served me himself, having me try on half the store, chatting away. I chose a stunning pair of dressy black sandals but he insisted I had to have the sexiest pair in the store. I didn't argue!

katstyle @michelleannette Hi MichelleAnnette! Thanks for the kind words, you're too sweet. Just before this photo shoot began, I snapped the heel on the shoe that's hidden behind the column! So unusual for Manolo's, right?? It broke in half, didn't just separate from the shoe. I had it repaired but was never satisfied with the work enough to wear them again. So I gave them to my housekeeper in Los Altos Hills! She developed quite the wardrobe from me… :-) I know she enjoyed them & that's great, but now I wish I'd kept them, just for historical purposes. Btw, full disclosure: all photos in this red dress were taken in 2000, so I don't look like this anymore. C'est la vie!

Travelled there on business, then came home to CA & began seeing a Liverpudlian who lived just a few miles from me. Got married & immediately moved to London for 2 years- lived right above Restaurant Le Caprice behind the Ritz Hotel, just FAB location & times!! Have a great designer friend there, do you know Ninevah Khomo?? Moved back here and for the next 15 years, spent 6–8 weeks per year in UK/Europe per year. I adore UK/Brits especially, (except for the now ex-Mr.) but love Europe/Europeans too! My favorite place to shop is the Kings Road… Then of course Sloane Street, Bond St., Oxford Street… I have SO much fun whenever I visit, never enough time to do everything. katstyle @marykathrynlee You listed the shoes as size 7, which they are. However, they are a size 7 NARROW, which you did not mention. Traditionally with shoes in stores or online, if they simply list the size number, it means they are a "B" width, which means "average" or "medium", by default. If other than that, you need to list the NARROW or WIDE specification. These are far too narrow for me, so I am returning them.

katstyle @cutenthrifty :-(:::: No. The heel broke in the middle of the shaft and I took it to a shoe repair someone had said was excellent, but they weren't. The repair was very obvious, so I never felt comfortable wearing them again. I had a house cleaner with a daughter just starting to work and date... She said she knew the girl wouldn't care about the repair so I gave them to her. Hope they brought her a lot of fun!
