1) First things first - make yourself "account"ABLE on Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Facebook. In other words, get a free account on each of these sites. YES, I know EVERYONE has a FB account. But have you advertised your closet in there yet?
2) Whenever you make a new listing on Posh (or whenever you EDIT your listing), you have the option to share via that last listing screen to a number of places - Facebook, Twitter & Tumblr. Just make sure you've logged into these sites via the Poshmark app (one time will get it working). This is the PRIME way to share your new items beyond the boundaries of Posh! One more thing, once you switch to ON for this kind sharing, all new items and edits will keep sharing until you switch back to OFF. You might want to switch back to OFF if you do a lot of edits. You don't want to advertise the same item TOO much, lest you drive your FB followers a wee bit....oh, CAH-RAZY. Reel it in, GF. Reel it in....
3) When you share items (whether they be yours or another's), you have the option to go beyond just your followers or the latest party. Try the Pinterest, SMS or email link when you find a Holy Grail of fashion that MUST BE SEEN by your friends! Go a step further and formally invite these "dumb-founded by your fashion find" friends to Posh with your five letter code that gets both of you a fantastic FIVE dollar credit from Posh. (OMPosh, was that too many F words??!!) To access the Pinterest/SMS/Email option, make sure you are updated to the latest version of Poshmark.
4) Go to your "Sharing Settings" link on your Poshmark account page and set your search visibility to ON. This means the fabulous items you are selling in your closet are visible on the Google search engine. If you are selling a NWT handbag that is out of stock EVERYWHERE, and someone searches it, your closet will pull up as a result. Can someone say "EXPOSURE"!!! (and not "flasher at the bus stop" exposure). THIS is the GOOD kind that may lead to a sale!
5) At the top of every closet page (on the red bar), there's a cool little arrow coming out of a box. This is another way to SHARE outside of Posh, directly to Instagram. Your closet snapshot will load into IG along with the necessary hashtags to make it easily searchable - VERY cool! You can IG share like this with other closets you love, but again, reel it in and don't overdo it so the seller accuses you of stalking. You want to show MAD Posh Love, not "mad" Posh Love (like the "Joker in the Dark Knight" mad). That's just plain worrisome.
6) Do you have a blog or website that you can call your own? Perhaps someone you know will donate free advertising to you in exchange for....oh, I don't know, maybe a pkg of Double Stuf Oreos? (and btw, it's CREAM...NOT COOKIE!) If so, you definitely need to upload the "Shop My Closet" widget from the Poshmark website and imbed it into the site's HTML along with the link to your closet. @lriegel The widget will fully function as an HTML on a website or blog site. You can see it on my website - listed below my closet name👆. I've tried it in email but it doesn't work the same for me. I usually add my closet link via the normal path and sometimes pretty it up by adding the "shop my closet" image. It just isn't a functioning image that can be clicked. Is there anyone else out there who has tried and succeeded in that regard?

@scarlettstained @tinker_bell I'm the litmus test for accommodating to technological advances, because generally speaking, I'm lazy and the status quo takes less time. But for this app, I'd probably turn my life upside down. And I have. Tink, I agree that a guidebook would be awesome, but this technology changes so dramatically - the first printing would quickly become obsolete - perhaps an updatable site online. I prefer to focus on what it does to us emotionally and the book I am writing will hopefully reflect that. I get a kick out of people responding positively to their experiences on Poshmark. And if my tips give them greater joy though understanding - I've accomplished my goal! Y'all are both Posh rocks to me. I have a long list of inspirational mentors on here. You top it. Oh wow, getting verklempt. Mom, I need to go look at Hugh and "calm" down!!! 😘👑😘👑😘

@lchouser If you go to the top of your main closet listing and choose the share icon, it will take you to Instagram but you can also share directly from that Instagram post to any of the other social media sites. All of your Instagram posts may be shared to Facebook! And in this way, you present a snapshot of your closet. I also periodically will just insert the link for my closet into a status update. It creates a great little presentation with a clickable thumbnail image.

@lchouser on your FB status, enter "www.poshmark.com/closet/lchouser" and then hit enter before you post the status. The thumbnail should appear immediately. You can then erase the link in your text and the thumbnail will stay. Give it a try and let me know if it works for you.

@fuzzynavel She can email Poshmark to inquire, or she can go the unscientific route and take a follower tally in the morning and then again about 48 hours later. SUs gain a few hundred followers during a single one-hour rotation, but are not in rotation everyday. .

OMG, how did you ever learn how to do all of this? You are so sweet and special to share your knowledge with all of us, but I don't even understand half of this. I did put a few things on Instagram, but it seems very cumbersome. I have to go to each item separately and share, is that correct? And I really don't understand Instagram, Tumblr, etc. I am feeling pretty inept after reading all the tips. Again, how did you learn all of this?

@shastenr Mass tagging is indeed a no no, but you can tag 4-5 names at a time and ask the tagged Poshers to write "Check this out and please tag 2 Poshers - PASS IT ON. Thanks!" It builds pretty fast. No one is mass-tagging and the word will go out. As soon as you tag a Posher, go into her closet and share a few items so she sees your name in the feed - consider it a thank you in advance. Share your sale listing a few times every 5-10 minutes over the course of a day and especially during the evening parties. Tag me and I'll be happy to share it a few times a day as well. And yes, I am indeed enjoying anything that doesn't have a tornado siren or salt/brine mixture attached to it! ;)

I am so extremely computer challenged. Don't understand twitter or Instagram but I'm going to try to walk thru your steps. I am a Poshmark Suggested User & a Top 10% Seller. However,I haven't been able to really put all the time into it as I would like. I have a ton of things in all sizes but my Mom has cancer & I am her caregiver. She is 89 & has always been my rock! I will need Posh to distract me after I lose her but for now I do what I can.
Thank u so much for your marketing tips. I am having Business Cards made up soon as I tell everyone I see about my closet but nothing to hand them. Can you suggest what type of ads I should put on them, as in my FB page, need to set up a website. Would you suggest going thru Posh or have my Friend set one up for me!

@intrepid Hi! Please excuse the delay in answering - just got back from overseas and catching up a long feed. I think it's exciting that you are transitioning your closet to sell items for others, especially since it costs you nothing up front to start such a business. It's important to create your system and write out a contract of consignment with each of your clients. This details all your responsibilities as well as your compensation for the services your provide. It also becomes an official document to establish your standing as a business and not a hobby (in the eyes of the IRS). In order to give your clients a better return than what they would get at a brick and mortar consignment store (40-50%), I suggest you give them a cut of 50-60%. Since Poshmark takes 20%, this leaves you 20-30%. If you sell from home and have no overhead costs, I believe this is a fair percentage range. Your situation may vary. You can also choose to limit what you sell - higher priced merchandise only - to get the best return on your time investment. Hope this helps. Have fun and the best of luck to you! Cheers! :)

I'm not familiar with IG or Twitter, will look into them. I tried Pinterest, but closed it. I'm doing ok sales wise, but need/want more. Any information is appreciated.

@fallinup Hi Pam! You can insure getting your item onto Facebook or elsewhere by simply clicking "share" on the item and then selecting "copy link". Then just paste the link into any Facebook page or group. The clickable thumbnail will appear. Cheers! 👑😊👑

Thank you so much for responding. I'm able to share to fb either by clicking on fb or copy the link, but all of my pictures are cropped top and bottom once they show up on fb. I can't imagine what I'm doing wrong. But if I upload to fb from my phone photos they are fine, but no link to PM then, grrrr. Any ideas?

@fallinup A workaround for that (since FB crops those supporting link pics) is to create your FB post, add the pic from your phone and then copy and paste the sales link into your post. The reader gets the correctly sized pic and your link is clickable in your post. :)
