Every night, there's a Posh party! You are always invited by @pm_editor which is way cool. What's even cooler is you can get your closet noticed with a Host Pick VERY EASILY if you follow the steps outlined in the 2nd comment below. queenmumm 1) Check the PM BLOG every Monday & see who's hosting & which themes are featured for the week; 2) Pretty up your listings (always be improving your COVERSHOTS) & move your best-themed items to the TOP of your closet; 3) RID your closet NOW of all that is NON-POSH like men's & children's clothing, PAYPAL, perfumes, makeup, horse trailers, etc. & PLEASE keep them off Posh!! Yes, you can sell ALL of these items ON ANOTHER SITE; 4) Refrain from advertising NON-POSH sites in your closet. If this was McDonald's, you wouldn't run around the tables shouting aloud about Burger King or Jack in the Box. Hosts have up to 100 HP slots to fill each night and will ONLY select you if you are adhering to the rules - and not just for that night but EVERY NIGHT. 5) NO PAYPAL, NO PAYPAL, NO PAYPAL. We WANT to share your listings but WE HATE PAYPAL because it undermines the Posh system that protects us all. Go ahead and jump on the NO PAYPAL bandwagon and write it at the top of your closet - "NO PAYPAL"! 6) Start a friendly communication with the hosts (remember, you found them in the BLOG??) and ask if you can tag to items that are worthy of the theme. reddragonfly @queenmumm quick question (actually pertinent!) - I was about to share a GORGEOUS trinket box I bought on PM; I have bought a few little keepsakes; honestly, I consider them sort of like jewelry. One of them I do keep jewelry in; the other is - well, it could be made into a necklace. Are such items "forbidden" as they are not women's fashion (thank goodness jewelry is acceptable, whew!) Would like to give these ladies credit though not sure if I'm breaking PM rules (sharing non-fashion items)....

reddragonfly thanks for your kind words and your insight re: such lovely , decorative items... I miss my "things" (in SF Storage or Manhattan Mini Storage) - have moved back and forth 6 times in past 12 years, finally put my treasured items in bubble wrap in box marked "Special" - was afraid would get broken. I'm planning to permanently settle back East (moving incrementally starting late November) but - recently bought just a couple such items on PM and was SO excited. My apartments have seemed so barren and cold w/out any little - trinkets or doodads. Didn't mean to create extra work for you, I should have done that myself, but thank you!! Perhaps if, in a closet full of clothing, and/or purses, jewelry, etc. as opposed to a closet that has ONLY "items" vs fashion it would be ok? Anyway, thank you!! Hope you are well!! :)xoxo,p

bathtubginagain Hi there my darling! Thank you thank you again and a bathtub gin again! Can you please tell me if there is a way to tag a group of people, say everyone who liked and item or commented on something? I have so many people to thank for all the posh love re my - what?!? SEVEN!? Host picks this weekend! How do you do it?? Also, curious about the perfume as it is something you wear that is in your closet and hair items, and makeup.... There are big time posters who sell these items almost exclusively, so this is forbidden? I got a warning letter for posting a vintage dresser set with a mirror, brush and comb and powder jar. I completely understand and took it off but I'm thinking maybe there should be a posh site for vanity items, what do you think?

queenmumm @bathtubginagain Hey, sweetie! It was so wonderful to meet you last week and congrats on those SEVEN HPs!! I don't have a guaranteed way to easily tag to people. For now, I use my computer browser for most of my evening party commenting. It allows the comment window to open and you can scroll back to find usernames while you are inputing them in that window. With the first couple of letters, it should populate the username for you to click on. As for the beauty items (perfume, makeup, etc.) not being "Poshable" - it is a safety and hygiene concern. USPS does not allow perfume to be shipped via air transport. Since you're mailing all of your Posh items via USPS, there is no guarantee as to what is shipping via air versus ground - thus perfume is a big NO NO. This includes hairsprays, etc. anything that contains alcohol. With regards to makeup, there are fake cosmetics out there (as prolific as fake designer bags). If you have allergies to certain ingredients, it's not worth a week of itchy eyes to score your fave brands at a "bargain". It's the same reason why used undergarments are also not allowed - just not hygienic. Hope this helps answer your questions. :)

bathtubginagain Vanity items hair nails eyes..... Sunglasses are ok, why not hair adornments and such? Nails, no no too? Polish bad ?...appliqués? There are many cell phone and iPad gadgets and cases as well. Very high volume too. Does poshmark turn a blind eye to them or do they get shutdown? I am not trying to be a troublemaker just noticing some stuff. Forgive me if I overstep.

queenmumm @bathtubginagain I think it's important to differentiate what I'm trying to relate in this post - and that is this: Posh has specific guidelines, and they instruct Party Hosts to only pick items from closets that follow those guidelines. There are new users on Posh who have dozens of magnificent listings....and one bottle of perfume stands between their closet and a host pick. And 9 times out of 10, they aren't even aware of any problem - they just feel the rejection of being overlooked. I would love for all new closets to be recognized with HP - it's a rush, as you can definitely attest since you have celebrated more than a few this weekend - and again, CONGRATS! :) And your mention of rule-breakage and where to place the defining point of what is or isn't a rule-breaker is completely warranted. I would love for PM to create a detailed list - much like what TSA will allow or disallow in your airline carryon. Everyone interprets guidelines in different ways and there is bound to be a bit of chaos each time a new person enters the app. But you should also realize that the app is growing very fast. It's a challenge to enforce the rules with so many new closets popping up constantly. The powers that be are working to improve that system. Knowledge comes from experience and those that have been on the app long enough to know the rules/guidelines/nuances can serve as mentors to each new user who comes onboard. If you see an item that isn't within the rules, you have the option to report it. But may I suggest opening a dialogue first? We all make mistakes that we are more than happy to correct. That's the difference between a mentoring system and a police state. Let's not punish, let's promote the knowledge and pass it on. Posh should be accessible to all, and all should be flexible to work within it's rules. And I am VERY optimistic that everyone on Posh has that capability. :) That's my soapbox for the night. mandymerico @andine @queenmumm What is the actual rule on make up? I think its unclear. In the FAQ, it says "used make up" which is why I've listed new make up. If no make up at all is allowed, I will take them down as I follow the rules.

queenmumm @mandymerico you are correct, it says no "USED makeup". IMHO, the problem for most hosts is the interpretation. If they see makeup of any kind, they usually exit out of the closet. I've never seen makeup be a host pick, so I err on the side of not carrying it or any other beauty products in my closet. One more thing to consider - even new makeup can cause allergic reactions. In that case, a customer return would be difficult to pursue for the buyer and that leaves the seller with an unhappy customer. And if somehow the product does get returned, there is no way to relist what is now against the guidelines - used makeup. Just not worth the risk. Again, my opinion, y'all! I have only listed a small amount of make up items but I was unsure as to why new make up would disqualify a person from being a host pic if the guidelines are only against used. I would never dream of selling used make up and it makes me sick when I see people do it. That's so unsanitary. I will definitely keep the allergic reaction aspect of things in mind though. I hadn't thought of it that way! Your explanation on perfume was so helpful too!! Thank you so much for looking out for those of us who do want to follow the rules and be good Poshers! 💓

As Posh continues to grow rapidly, there are a few closets that are slipping through and being featured as HPs even though they are not fully abiding by the rules/guidelines that Posh has set. It is up to the rest of us to be pro-active and not counter-intuitive in guiding new closets to establish themselves. That's why I list these tips. Even if one Posher sees it and starts a conversation or a share, the message will be sent out. I encourage questions, comments, etc. and yours is very germane to this post and needs to be expressed. Thank you! Eventually, I'm trusting that HPs won't be a subject of controversy, but of celebration. I hope all Poshers will join me in the effort to lead by example. It takes a village... and we are pretty much a planet by now! :)

And last question (please know I'm new) under PoshMark guidelines it says they don't allow used bathing suits OR undergarments of any kind. My interpretation of this is NO Undergarments (new or used) am I right?

queenmumm @cody7150 Yes, NWT, unopened and unused makeup is allowed. NWT unused bathing suits are allowed. All other types of undergarments are not, according to the guidelines. This is a confusing point because I know that some closets sell NWT undergarments such as brand new bras, pantyhose still in the box, etc. but it is technically against the stated guidelines. If you are uncertain about an item you want to list, seek clarification directly from PMHQ. Hope this helps! 😊

queenmumm @bethshover Hi and welcome to Poshmark! I'll answer the mannie question first. I bought mine off the sales floor at Hobby Lobby on sale for $59. It is technically a dress form and you can find the same one online by googling "damask dress form". I have also seen them at TJMaxx in the home decor section. You can find plastic hang up dress forms online. Actual mannequins (with heads, arms, etc) can run much higher unless you can luck up on a store that is out of business or selling their older models to make room for newer ones. eBay also carries mannequins in all shapes, sizes and conditions.

queenmumm @bethshover Please make sure you are following all of the PM guidelines. They are found in the PM FAQ section on your account page. Host are told to select only from closets adhering to the rules/guidelines. It makes a big difference getting a host pick because it can increase you followers and exposure, which can lead to more sales. 😊😊😊

ladycarrillo86 Hi good info...so how does a posher "change their ways" and be able to eventually get host picks and maybe future suggested user? I have accepted pp and done trades ....I have decided that I really do love this app and was not trying to not follow the rules but have simply tried to help shoppers save some money or me get a new purse without having to spend$$ by trading some of my items. I do know that I have missed many opportunities for HP etc because of this and I really have a greater reputation here so I would like to enforce all posh rules. With that said....I am stuck in my closet with the sales that did end as a trade etc....so will I forever be passed up because of this history in my closet? Any advice and direction would be great🌹🌹🌹🐞

queenmumm @mabmarie Hi Shanel! Hope this info helped. Re: contacting the hosts, the nightly hosts change, but the first one - KateF - is PM's merchandise director and she hosts EVERY night. Your best bet is to contact the other hosts instead. Kate has a large following and a lot of traffic on her newsfeed and your request may not get seen. The other hosts are looking actively through closets in the week leading up to the party and they are expecting tags to listings. Just make sure you have a great listing to offer up and that you are following all the rules and guidelines. Good luck! :)

queenmumm @ladycarrillo86 Hi! I took at look at your closet and there are a few options I would suggest. One is to weed your closet of any listings that mention your paypal transactions and relist those items, henceforth following the rules. Trades aren't a direct violation of any rule/guideline. They just aren't supported as a transaction. If you have a trade history, it shouldn't keep you from getting host picked. The second option is to make a listing in your closet that says emphatically that you are a reformed Posher and want to follow all the rules/guidelines from now on and would like to be considered for a host pick. You'll still need to weed what you can. Sold listings that mention paypal can't be deleted, so that history will always be with you. The third option is to establish a new closet and move your items into it (yes, you will need to start from scratch) but your history stays with the old closet and this can be your "rebirth". I know you have followers that you don't want to lose. You can tag them to the new closet and many will follow. To be honest with you, a brand new closet that is following all guidelines with no paypal can get host picks faster than a closet with questionable history. Host picks means more followers and sales. You could see a big change in reception just by starting anew especially since your items will be shared by closets with larger followings. Your old closet won't officially close, so the history will remain, but you can delete the unsold listings and just not work with that username anymore. We've all made mistakes and it would be nice to know that everyone is immediately forgiving and can move on, but just a few questions about a closet can raise more questions and alienation. I would like for you to have the opportunity to be host picked and fully involved with Poshmark, so tag me when you decide what to do and I'll see if I can help you further. Good luck! :)

Hopefully my new sales and comments will reflect my new actions to follow the rules. I have seen so many people become suggested users and/ or have multiple host picks that sell items strictly forbidden an pp transactions...which is totally unfair. But it's ok it's the way it goes I will make it a point now to do the right thing🌻🌻hopefully then I'll start being chosen for picks😊😊🐞🌻

queenmumm @ladybugger1965 Consult comment #2 here for HP help and evaluate what you are selling. Undergarments are now allowed but they must be NWT only. Same goes for makeup -- only brand new, sealed makeup can be sold. No children's or men's clothing are allowed. Unisex clothing (jerseys, etc) is okay. While trading is not considered a rule-breaker, it isn't supported by the Poshmark guarantee and thus some Poshers won't share closets that trade. Just depends on that Posher/Host. queenmumm @careygirl As you are in Arkansas and I'm your neighbor in Tennessee, I can concur that this season has been difficult for an outdoor photography session. When it does warm up (as it has today), don a few of your items, take your iPhone outside and set it up on a solid support. Then, flip it to videotape you. Back away and strike a few poses (hold them for 2-3 seconds each). Make sure you are in the sunlight and the camera is between you and the sun. Get in closer for some detail, turn around and show the back. Work it like you are on the runway. After you're done, run through the video and screen capture a few of your best poses. Run these through a quick editing app to crop and enhance lighting. Improvised outdoor modeling makes for outstanding covershots. And MORE IMPORTANTLY, your hubby never has to put down his beer or the remote. ;)

I take most of the pics with my iPad- I'm a hobbiest photographer and not being able to directly load "real" pics (without a several step process between computer and iPad) is my biggest beef. Regarding perfume - there are newbies who wonder about this so I'll clarify for them - it's not allowed on USPS air transportation (aerosols and other alcohol-containing items fall into the same category). Because our shipments are sent via USPS, these items should not be sold on Posh. You sold it but you recognize the error and that's really all we need to know. Don't rule out HPs for yourself. You can't delete the listing, so there will be some who may question. I would move past it and focus on making your closet pick worthy. Strike up a conversation with an upcoming host when you're ready, and mention how you are now a rule/guideline follower. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Good luck! :)

martiglg @queenmumm I am a buyer on Posh. I have noticed that Host Picks seem to go to the same closets repeatedly. Many of these closets are the store type who obviously have suppliers not the average Posher. An average seller who primarily sells their items (maybe a few for friends or family) can't compete with these "store" sellers. I love Posh because of these "regular" people with unique items which I thought it was intended for.

I'm not sure why she no longer issues the party invites, but I assume it is to ease confusion in new Poshers who aren't familiar with the invitation system (i.e. they aren't initially aware of Kate's important position with Poshmark). PM_Editor is the official account for PMHQ and represents the Posh team.

When Posh first started, this was a role I played, so I am so happy to see that you have been doing it for quite some time! (I took a hiatus for pretty much all of 2013 with being pregnant and then having my first son.) Anyway, great post. One other tip (which may have been shared by someone in the later comments is - You can click on the actual party listing before the party starts and click the hosts to see who is hosting. Typically, I stay away from the Posh employees, but the other 2 or so are fair game. I don't do this near enough, but I do think it's another way to click through (in the app) to the hosts' closets. I look forward to getting to know you better!

1shoppingmomma I have a question.. how can people get host picks when hosts are picking 40 and 60 items from their own personal closets? I was totally shocked to see this.. I was surprised that these suggested users were doing that. are hosts really allowed to do that?

queenmumm @1shoppingmomma Hi Jennifer! Thanks for your question. I wanted to take time to give you a detailed answer. :) Hosts are emailed in advance of their party and are asked to select no more than 100 items. They are told to vary selections across other closets and to not forget their own closet. There are a few reasons why a party may have more picks from one host's closet: 1) Hosts sometimes look out for another co-host to make sure she is featured. Sharing from each other's closets, combined with one's own picks, can make that # jump. 2) Sharing "glitches" occur. True story - a past host was selecting from different closets on one device while her hubby shared her closet into the "general party feed" on another device. She was logged into both devices so the shares from BOTH devices registered during the 2 hour slot. She was mortified to discover the error afterwards - 1/2 her own closet ended up in the HP showroom. Once a host reaches 100 shares, the system does not shut the host out. If she starts sharing her closet to get items into the party feed, they go towards HPs - you'll sometimes see that happening towards the end of the party. 3) Sometimes stress factors in - a host doesn't take time to prep - thus her likes are lacking as a source to fill the 100 slots. Rather than rush to vet closets for compliance during the party, she'll turn to her own closet (or a few other closets) to fill in the gaps. 4) The last reason is if a host feels she has been underexposed in other parties, she may seek to get more sales/followers/shares by heavily featuring her own items. Unfortunately, she does not see the negative effect created from that decision. But it's hard to argue that - it is her party, after all. She can host how she wants. On the flip side, many hosts will not feature a single item from their own closet and will only select items from closets that have never had a host pick. Most hosts will do a combination of techniques to create a beautiful showroom. The takeaway here is that every party is different with hosts varying in their selection-making. My suggestion is to always be seeking to get your items picked by following the tips above. And if anyone wants a turn at hosting, just email Poshmark (send to "hosting at poshmark dot com" - in correct email address format of course) and ask to be considered. Hope this helps. Cheers! :)

1shoppingmomma Thank you for responding. I just hosted my 1st party not long ago. I loved very second of it. I followed the rules to a "T" because I felt it was an honor to be picked to host a party. I only had 3 days to research all my picks..I was just wondering because two host had ALOT. One had 40 items from their closet and another had 60 items from her closet. Whatever the reason it's hard to watch the party when all you see are these two closets. Thanks again for responding. And always helpful info💕💕💕

queenmumm @maremare711 You are welcome! Make sure you also read the link at the top of my closet about what you can and can't sell on Posh. Hosts take the guidelines seriously when selecting picks. Something as simple as nail polish, perfume or used undergarments can get you passed up for an HP. Good luck! 😊😊😊

queenmumm @gabgontarek24 Here's the next step towards attaining a host pick. They are awarded every night, by 1-5 hosts in the evening party. The hosts are given 100 slots for selection, and there are over 200,000 listings in the master party feed. Being in one of those host pick slots is highly coveted because you gain excellent exposure for your item and your closet. Just follow the steps I outline above in the second comment of this listing. The Poshmark blog is located at blog.poshmark.com and that's where you'll find the weekly hosts (always announced on Monday afternoon). Good luck! :)

queenmumm @pjmack Congrats on that Host Pick! You should be excited that it sold so fast. Many items in the HP section will sell before the Posher has a chance to update the listing with "HP" in the title. Know that it is not required to put HP on the listing - it's the discretionary for the seller. I've been on Poshmark for almost 2 years and I don't mark my items as HP anymore, but many Poshers still do. Remember that you want your items searchable to potential buyers, so that title needs to be clear and detailed for what you are selling. When you add "HP" or "HP X 4" or "HP on 11/21/14", it takes away important space you need to describe what you are selling. That's why I always suggest adding HP as a graphic on the covershot without distracting from the item. The other thing you can do is screenshot your sold item and create a new non-sellable listing for your closet entitled MY HOST PICKS. Then you can show that you've received one, and that you are working on getting more. Always continue towards another HP! It is a special honor and you deserve to pat yourself on the back and then show it off. Just do it quicker next time... LOL ;)

queenmumm @hyarri01 Hey Holly and welcome to Poshmark!!! So glad to hear you are enjoying it. Changing the order of items in your closet is very simple. When you list, share or edit an item, it will immediately become the top listing in your closet. Every share or edit thereafter puts that item at the top, so you are literally building your closet from the bottom, up. If you want to move items around and then go off app to do other things, the LAST item you share will be the first one in your closet. Hope this makes sense. queenmumm @stelladotcyndy Hi Cyndy! Yes, they changed that rule. You can now sell swimsuits, bras and lingerie without tags (in clean condition). Underwear (panties, etc) must be brand new WITH tags. My most updated list is available by clicking the website link on my "about" page. :)

Compliancy is the biggest issue for those sharing your items - especially hosts, who are instructed to pick only from rule abiding closets. queenmumm @riverlove722 Hi Tabitha! Welcome to the selling side. Your closet looks great. A few tips: If you model items & photograph in natural light, it helps. Set your smartphone to video, strike a few poses outside & snap screenshots of the video. Also, it is likely difficult for other Poshers to reciprocate the multiple shares you give on one item. You risk a share "warning" from HQ. It's best to share 5-10 items once per closet, like and engage as you have with me. Good luck and Cheers! 😊

queenmumm @riverlove722 This is true, the weather has been weird this season - outside shots may be difficult. Setting your phone between you and an inside window will also work for natural light. :). HQ (or PMHQ) is Poshmark headquarters. They are currently on alert for automated and bot sharing programs, so if the system detects multiple speed shares they temporarily freeze the closet to investigate. Just a heads up to save you the trouble. :)

riverlove722 Ohhhhhhh,,,,,, no,no,no, I do not have that, nor would I spend $200 on it! lol Do they not like people using those for some reason? I just recently heard of those. But, I know nothing about them, just that they are pricey $$$! I wonder why they do not like them. Maybe it alters their website in some negative manner? queenmumm @riverlove722 Just one bot taking on the Posh server is not good. You can imagine if thousands of closets are doing it. It could crash the platform. Moreover, it goes against the initial intent of the app - to engage with each other by liking and sharing what we find in other closets. I don't think you have a bot, but your shares were very fast. Are you on android? I noticed when you shared for me yesterday. My feed went from 5 to 170 shares in a matter of minutes. Honestly, I was like wow. :)

riverlove722 Yes, I can totally understand that! Simply said in that manner the website would go down, wow. That is what I suspected. I look at each and every item I share one by one. I used to key mail for USPS for over 12 years and played a piano as a kid. So I can type like lightening. lol I am also top at an online game I play. Yes, I am sure they can run some kind of check and know there is not anything in a software, just speedy Gonzales here,,,, lol.

riverlove722 They should post a """Bot warning""" I heard about it around a week ago, which means more and more people are probably hearing about it. Because I am relatively still new. Oh, and seeing closets cost me around $200 lately. ;) You are dead on about that fact as well. It is like walking in and peaking into multiple little shops. It becomes very irresistible! Btw, I am impressed with myself after you told me that! lol I knew I was fast, but never knew exactly how fast ;)

queenmumm @doitwithstyle Hi Bev! Sorry for the confusion. The pm blog is located at blog.poshmark.com. The party listing is found there and is updated every Monday afternoon. The info stays until the following Monday but the older lists are archived. Hope this helps. :)

I'm a little confused about one of the steps though (sorry if you've explained this 790000 times already...lots of comments here😅) - when you say "ask if you can tag 2 items for a theme", what exactly does that mean? My items? Their items? I make up the theme myself? ....I realize that's more than one question 😂😂 thank you!

queenmumm @demetraak47 Hi Demetra! No worries on the questions. I'm always happy to explain. Go to blog.poshmark.com, scroll & click on "Posh Party Line Up". This gives every host for the week. Pay attention to the themes. Click each of those closets, find the party listing (usually at the top) & congratulate the host. Inquire if you can tag her to 1 or 2 of YOUR items that fit Poshmark's assigned theme for her party. The host may be busy & you may not get an answer but it doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck!

queenmumm @rmoon13 Hi! PM has changed its format since this was first posted. Some sellers used to negotiate via email and off app, which was a big no no. Poshmark now accepts credit card, "pay with Apple" & "pay with pal". As long as you keep your purchase within the app, you are within the rules. :)
