If you say an item is swatched but never used, that’s an oxymoron. SWATCHED=USED. USED=SWATCHED. They are the SAME thing. Swatching on your arm/face/leg/lip/tongue is all the same. Skin cells and bacteria start breaking down the product regardless of where you apply it. Putting “NWT” on your swatched item is not okay. Also...You can’t sanitize a swatched liquid lipstick. It’s contaminated the second you put that wand back in. Do you want someone else’s skin cells in your lipstick? EW!

nycsearthangel YASSSSS!!! Why does no one else agree with this?!! I get so excited every time I see a lipstick color I love on here but then it says “swatched but brand new”. Noooo not brand new. USED! 😭😭😭

newlynelson @oneworldcharity @originalsbyliss oh my gosh I know! I can kinda maybe see if you sanitized a palette where one shade was used once but people who sell used liquid lipsticks as practically new bc they think searching on their arm is somehow ok bc it isn’t their mouth. NOO!!! And you can’t sanitize liquid lipsticks! You just put all those skin cells on the wand and just mixed them all around in the lipstick. No no no no no. 🤮🤢

scgirl1961 👏👏👏I'm so glad to see this! Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking. That's like "gently worn panties or bathing suite"! Doesn't anybody know the meaning of "Unsanitary"? I wish I saw more post like this. 🙂

xzibit115 Oh my gosh, you're hitting the nail on the head! I just bought a "new" clarins facial cream , and of course no seal.... so they opened it, used it, and now just sold it as new. So mad. Ugh. Thank you for this.

workin4mygirls
workin4mygirls I have had a listing stating this with actual responses from Poshmark in my closet for over a year & I STILL get people arguing with me that it’s fine to sell their swatched items.🤦🏼‍♀️

newlynelson @dawna114 ugh it’s so annoying. I report every listing I come across. Swatching still gets skin cells and bacteria in the product and starts the degradation process. Not to mention makes it unsanitary for another person to use. People are nuts

workin4mygirls @newlynelson me too- so gross and unhealthy

newlynelson @renrhys nice. People think if it isn’t used for its intended purpose that it isn’t used even though their skin or brush touched it. They think if it wasn’t used for its purpose that it’s still clean, but news flash, skin cells get on it and start the degradation process. That’s why there are shelf lives to these things.

newlynelson @renrhys totally agree. People usually get angry and defensive when they know they’re wrong

newlynelson @k_silliman yea she is an idiot. That’s 100% not true. She obviously never worked at a makeup counter because sanitation is super important to credible retailers.

chandlersgizmos
chandlersgizmos I would say that swatched = used but used x= swatched it’s like square = rectangle but rectangle x= square but that is just my opinion

swift_sales
swift_sales Love how posh does seemingly nothing to take down used makeup. It’s a health risk! Reported a whole closet earlier as they had everything NWT and posted pics of item in box which made it seem brand new in box if you didn’t click. Last photos show the pans with shadow dug on and swatched disclaimer. I kindly told the seller they may want to update their description to avoid a possible case when selling and they had such an attitude lol.

redheadedone2 thank you for the PSA announcement. I hope you don't mind that I have shared this listing. may I borrow it for my page? I don't know why this concept is so hard to understand.
