Fast forward to May 2002, on the 16th anniversary of the Vel' d'Hiv, where we meet Julia jarmond, in an American journalist living in paris. Tasked with writing an article about this dark day and Francis history, Julia covers a trail of long-handed family secrets that link her to sarah. As she delves into the past Julia's investigation compels her to reevaluate her own life, marriage, and her place in France.
