Sabatier Vintage Leather Purse Made in France 1947-present

This Sabatier vintage purse is a rare find from the 1940s. The beautiful green and blue leather and messenger/cross body style make it a unique addition to any collection. The purse is in great condition for its age with some small white marks on the back at the bottom, shown in the pictures. Made in France, Sabatier is still making wonderful leather purses where they sell them in their store in Paris. I cannot be sure exactly when this purse was made so I listed it from when they first went into business in 1947 to the present. I believe the leather is “pressed”, a process that makes the texture possible. Pressed leather still exists today, if you can find it, however, it is much more expensive to press it today than back in the day when artisans were more common and charged less. The metal appears to be brass but I cannot be sure. Measurements are: width 11.5”, height to the top of the purse itself 10”. Strap is currently set on an added hole and adds another 17” although because it is adjustable it can go to another 25” from the top of the purse. In other terms: you can adjust the cross body from 27” to 35”.
