In 1879, Burberry introduced gabardine to his brand, a hardwearing, water-resistant yet breathable fabric, in which the yarn is waterproofed before weaving. In 1891, Burberry opened a shop in the Haymarket, London. The primary difference between "Burberrys" and "Burberry" is a historical rebranding, where the brand changed its name from "Burberrys" to "Burberry" in 1999 to reflect a more modern image. Therefore, any product with "Burberrys" on the label was made before 1999, while products with just "Burberry" on the label were made after 1999, with the company now officially using the shortened name.
