Vintage Coach Buffalo Hide Paper Bag Tote – Style 9704, made in 2001. Often compared to the coveted Penelope Paper Bag Tote (9714) for its tall north–south silhouette and classic turnlock pocket design. Buffalo hide examples of the 9704 appear far less often than the glove-tanned Penelope, and complete originals with the hangtag are increasingly hard to find. Crafted in richly grained buffalo hide leather in an orange-toned tan that develops a beautiful patina over time. with solid brass hardware and the original large brass Coach hangtag. Dual rolled leather handles and a turnlock-secured front pocket. Dogleash clip top closure. The interior is lined in black signature C canvas with one leather-trimmed zipper pocket. Four protective brass feet on the base. Very Good Vintage Condition. Callouts, pictured: A faint scratch on the front under the turnlock, a couple small blemishes in the leather on one side near the bottom, and a couple of faint dark marks above that on the same side. There is darkening on the top edge where the seam meets, which is more patina than a callout. Clean inside & out. No odors.
