Air Jordan 1 Retro High 'Sports Illustrated (A Star Is Born)'

In 1984, MJ donned his first Sports Illustrated cover as a member of the Chicago Bulls, in which he was putting up a leaning jumper around the likes of Sidney Moncrief and Mike Dunleavy of the Milwaukee Bucks. Equipped with a bold “A Star Is Born” claim front and center, this SI cover served as a only a brief preview of what was to come. Now more than three decades later, the Jordan Brand is set to release a sneaker that harkens back to this iconic magazine cover, the Air Jordan 1 “A Star Is Born”. Borrowing the color blocking from the revered Jordan 1 “Chicago”, this selection opts for a black and white base, while ushering in a striped pattern on its Swoosh meant to mimic the piping down the side of the ’84 Bucks’ uniforms. Other standout embellishments include “A Star Is Born” boldly printed on the inside of its detached ankle collar straps alongside the date that particular SI issue hit news stands, and flashes of red surrounding each of its branded elements
