Avant Garde woven tapestry - VHS tape wall hanging

TITLE: ESSEX COUNTY SLUTS MATERIALS: Black acrylic yarn, white acetate yarn, black VHS magnetic tape, salmon acrylic yarn, yellow wool roving yarn, upcycled beige and black fabric yarns, yellow nylon yarn. Harvested Teddy Bear Cholla skeleton from Joshua Tree, CA. DIMENSIONS: 15.5"W X 15"L I like to consider my work abstract weaving. Or expressionist weaving. I dont remember how long it took to make but for sure over 4 hours. The upcycled fabric yarns are fabrics and clothes I hand cut into strips and most of the yarns were purchased 2nd hand to ensure less waste. Plus vintage yarns are fun to work with. VHS tape is pretty fun to work with. Lots of movement and texture in this piece. VERY delicate piece. HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR TAPESTRY: 1- To ensure the weaving is hung on the correct side, do not cut off the NAME TAG. However, the back side will have many end pieces hanging or tied as well as knots at the top of the rod/wood. 2- The tapestry can be hung on nails or suspended with string, etc. (Depending on size & weight two or more nails will be necessary. For heavier tapestries please find wall studs.) 3- Hang tapestry at its balancing point on the rod. The top weaving line should typically be straight, NOT necessarily the rod. Essentially, you hang it how you like it, but you can reference these pics or my Instagram page for how your piece hangs from my perspective.
