almoyes @alamode I appreciate your suggestion, thank you! I have done a lot of consigning over the years with a lot of success. At least 8 of 10 items I bring in sell, but I hate the low percentage of the sales that I get as well as having to keep track of the dates for picking up before losing to "donation." Also, I am taking a break since it isn't fun to carry all my things to the shops. Much easier from home! Do you have suggestions for other online sites that I could use? I am working on Threadflip, RealReal, and Copious and wonder if there are more. Thanks, dear!!

alamode @almoyes I've done the same consigning and now trying out PM. I was very excited by PM initially. The only thing is now there are more sellers on PM than buyers. Additionally the buyers' price point is getting lower and lower on PM. I like the RealReal--their pricing is right. Try Linda's Stuff on eBay. They use a sliding scale for consigning.

This post sent me in a panic!! 😱😱Keep everything on PM, consignment only gives you @ 50% and even if it takes longer to sell, it's safer in your closet, than sitting in a consignment store, getting tried on and smeared on by people covered in self-tanner and pancake makeup and pepto lipstick!!! I'm trying to save up anyway for a couple pieces😘😘😘😘

almoyes @enigma Thank you, love!  I need these reminders. I actually managed to work out a higher percentage for my premium items. Although I had success, I did have some losses...like the makeup stained Prada top that didn't end up selling bc of the damage  ...at that same store, a beautiful--did I mention BEAUTIFUL??--Prada dress went "missing" and the store did not take responsibility for the loss (which I signed off on in the contract )

I have had them lose paperwork, dustbags, ruin items, lose 1 shoe??? stopped by to drop off more things and seen price reductions that were nuts, stains, self tanner, lipstick..I would rather donate and have grateful happy 😄people, than be insulted by ignorant or greedy salespeople ..quality costs money and ladies who appreciate fashion will find your items and LOVE them, when the time is right😘😘

almoyes @oonuts actually, the high end designer brands tend to retain their value as evidenced in eBay sales as well as many that we see on Poshmark and other resale sites. This is a general statement--really depends on the brand and creative director leading the design during certain periods as well as if a piece is rare and collectible. For some items in my collections, only 10 or 15 were ever produced and distributed worldwide.
