Although a gormandizer is usually a ravenous eater of food, what (the owner) meant was ‘a voracious eater of... music’.” The iconic CBGB, located in the Bowery Historic District of NYC’s East Village, opened in 1973 & although it was a tiny dive bar of a club, it saw performances from some of the most famous musicians of the mid-to-late 20th century (& today) including The Ramones, Blondie, Madonna, Talking Heads, Misfits, The Cramps, Joan Jett, Patti Smith, The Police, AC/DC, Kiss, Springsteen, Sum 41, Korn, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Beastie Boys, B-52s, Guns n Roses, & The Beatles.
