danarox Hello! Do you happen to know if they are washable? Would you say the fabric is akin to a hefty Lycra? I realize the tag may be long gone since they are vintage. Thank you.

thepurplechest @danarox Hello Dana, Your guess is very good. It has a bit of stretch but it’s not quite as much as modern day fabrics. Hefty is a good word. For its delicate look the fabric is durable. Reminds me of costume fabric for performers, a bit gritty. I would say it is hand washable, very gentle. The gold is in the fabric no shedding. Stitches look and feel healthy.

danarox @thepurplechest Thank you for your response. My grandmother used to wear gloves to church and I remember what they felt like, kind of thick and a bit slippery. You’ll laugh, but When I saw these I had a flash of myself sporting them at the supermarket given our COVID 19 existence...I know that is seven different kinds of wrong but it’s what came to mind.

danarox I need to measure my hands. In today’s sizes my hands are a small, but women had 18 inch waists back then too so small is likely relative to the period. I’m sure my waist was bigger than that at birth so...😆

thepurplechest @danarox Women those days had tiny waists even after the corset age. They ate less and healthy, I think. I hear you on waist pre versus post babies. I guess it’s a small price to pay for motherhood 😊
