An Art Ross Official National Hockey League puck is a vintage hockey puck manufactured by the Tyer Rubber Company and distributed by CCM. The patent number on the puck, 2226516, was filed in 1940 by Art Ross for a design that improved the puck's performance by beveling the edges and adding a knurled pattern to the sides to reduce rolling. This design was used on NHL game pucks for the next 28 years. The Tyer Rubber Company was the sole supplier of hockey pucks to the NHL until it was acquired by Converse Rubber Company in 1961.
