One of a kind. A collector’s treasure Gifted by Consulate to aunt. Very rare large handmade weaving by pupils in Sobantu Village at the Marjorie Pope Ellis School of Weaving which she started in 1939. Many of the pupils went on to create a weaving business
This wall hanging is exceptional for its condition and the originality. The color used in beak of the birds and the eyes of the animals is still vibrant. Note the red for the mouth of the elephant. Each weaving expressed the individuality of the student. The weaving is still in its original excellent condition after all these years.
