💃SOLD💃 ROYAL WORCESTER for MORTLOCK Imari Small Oval Serving Plate 1800’s

Made by fine English maker Royal Worcester for London retailer William Mortlock & Sons. Mortlock was the most important and powerful china retailer in London in the 1800s. So powerful was their influence over the best manufacturers, that they often demanded that products retailed at Mortlocks bear the Mortlock name rather than that of the original manufacturer. Porcelain mark indicates this plate was made in 1886. I believe the technique used was a printed outline for consistency which was then hand painted and gilt added. The colors are classic Imari ~ oranges, blues and gold ~ on a soft white ground. SIZE: 9 x 6.75, I believe it’s a small serving platter. MARKS: Example of mark on reverse shown in photo below. A few additional impressed marks as well. CONDITION: Antique item over 135 years old. Wear/rubbing to the gold around the rims. Some surface wear as would be expected from normally use and age. Stilt marks on backs. A few faint scratches and one small blemish on the fronts. The worst bit of damage is a chip on the underside of the plate ( see photo)
