Shangtung Silk Bag Handmade by Cambodian Mine Refugees

Measurements 11’ Long 7 & 1/2 high 4 & 1/2 across 7 &1/2 rolled handle drop Made by hand in Cambodia- Refugees from Abandoned Mine Fields left after the war in Viet Nam made bags as a means of income. To be allowed to purchase I felt to be an honor in support of such misfortune of a country & their people. I bought this bag at an orchid show in W.Palm Beach,Fl back in the mid 1990s Such a beautiful piece of artwork. The inside is a satiny fabric with magnetic closer as well as a zippered pocket. The outside is Shangtung Silk. Shangtung silk is a slubby texture creating areas that are both thick & thin. It is a very crisp & lightweight & durable silk. With exception of faint water drops on the bottom this is spotless - no loose threads - no fading - no loose seams - well made & structured. There are handmade beaded tassels on the ends of the decorative ties - this is a most decorative - lightweight - silk & feminine summer bag💞 I carried this on special occasions only It has been protected by me in an AC closet inside of another larger fabric bag for over 30 years. There are slight marks on the bottom and a tad of rubbing on a corner.
