Silver Horseshoe Decor

A horseshoe worn by one of the thoroughbreds at the world famous Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby. The horseshoe is lightly cleaned, leaving a bit of track dirt behind. Both ways: Some believe hanging it both ways brings the most luck. Why it's lucky: Originally made of iron, it was believed to ward off evil spirits. The crescent moon shape was a symbol of fertility & good luck for early pagan Europeans. The number seven is considered lucky, & horseshoes were traditionally held in place with seven nails. Where to hang it: The best place to hang is over the front door or main entrance.
