A beautiful porcelain Imari ginger jar in the classic hues of blue, red, green and metallic golds. It measures 8.5" in height to the top of the lid and approx 5.5" in diameter at its widest point. This is the Imari style which is named for the port in Japan where it was first exported and is a highly respected porcelain by the Japanese culture. Ginger jars were first used in China as storage for spices and became popular in Europe as decorative items in the 18th and 19th centuries. This is in excellent condition without chips or cracks. It's most likely from the 1970's. A gorgeous piece to add interest to any room! Thanks for looking!
