EUC. Vintage Somayaki Soma Ware Japanese Tea Cups. In good used condition, with the some signs of wear on the gold and the gold horse inside of the cups. Set of 4, Sold as set. Obori Somayaki is a form of pottery that is made in the Obori area in Namie Machi, Fukushima Prefecture. The history of this style started in the Edo era, during the Genroku years, when Kyukai Hangai from the Soma clan discovered good pottery clay and began making pottery for daily use. The double wall feature is their signature design. The teacups remain cool on the outside no matter how hot the tea is. (Note:I have 4 add'l cups, and a creamer and sugar also for sale).
